
Desk news :: Two Indian Coast Guard Ships, ICGS Shaurya and ICGS Rajveer arrived at Chattogram on 13 Jan 23 for a six day visit as part on ongoing close cooperation between Bangladesh and Indian Coast Guard. The ships were given a warm welcome by Bangladesh Coast Guard.
ICGS Shaurya is an indigenous Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPV), designed and built by M/s Goa Shipyard Limited and fitted with the state-of-the-art equipment like Integrated Bridge and Machinery Control Systems, High Power External Fire Fighting System and indigenous Gun Mount and Fire Control System.

She operates both Chetak & ALH helicopters and has an endurance of 6500 nautical miles. This sustenance and reach coupled with weapons, sensors and communication systems make her a versatile multipurpose platform for fulfilling Coast Guard Charter of duties.
ICS Rajveer is an indigenous Inshore Patrol Vessel (IPV), designed and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders, Kolkata. She has a designed speed of 35 Knots and is fitted with advanced navigation and communication equipment, sensors and machinery.

Some features include the Integrated Bridge System (IBS), and one indigenous Close Range Naval Gun Mount along with an optical fire control system for day and night usage.
The ship is designed to carry one Sea Boat, two inflatable Geminis crafts and one water scooter for Search and Rescue, maritime law enforcement and marine pollution response operations.
‘Shaurya’ which means ‘Valour’ and ‘Rajveer’ means “Royal Warrior”. The ships are a projection of Indian Coast Guard’s will and commitment “To serve and protect” the maritime interest of the nation.
