coxbangla desk(6th december) :: Chittagong Indian Assistant High Commissioner Dr. Rajeev Ranjan said, India-Bangladesh wants to move forward together.
India was on the side of Bangladesh in the Great War of Independence, still is and will be in the future.
On the occasion of India-Bangladesh Friendship Day on Wednesday (6th December) the Indian High Commission in Chittagong organized this event at Radisson Blu.
Assistant High Commissioner Dr. Rajeev Ranjan in his welcome address highlighted the deep cultural ties between India and Bangladesh.
He said, on this day in 1971, India formally recognized Bangladesh as an independent, sovereign country. India was one of the first countries to establish bilateral diplomatic relations with Bangladesh.
He further said that Friendship Day is a reflection of the deep and enduring friendship between the people of India and Bangladesh which is forged in blood and shared sacrifices.
The rich and diverse cultural heritage of India and Bangladesh was showcased through various performances by eminent artists of Bangladesh on the occasion of Friendship Day.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Indian assistant high commissioner lit the lamp. Rajeev Ranjan, Vice-Chancellor of Premier University. Anupam Sen, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University. Shirin Akhtar, Daily Azadi Editor MA Malek, Chittagong Metropolitan Freedom Fighter Commander Mozaffar Ahmed, Chittagong District Freedom Fighter Commander (Acting) AKM Sarwar Kamal.
Later in the ceremony, brave freedom fighters were honored with crest and northern wear.
Later, classical and folk dances and music were performed on the occasion.
Bangladesh’s prominent musical band Chirkut performed on the occasion.
The audience enjoyed the event. They wished India-Bangladesh friendly relations to be stronger.
